All submissions must be original works based on the individual research and analysis of the author. Works published elsewhere will not be accepted. AEI publishes a variety of article types. Scholarly manuscripts, opinion essays and book-reviews will all be considered for publication.
AEI reads all submissions that meet submission guidelines, but we cannot ensure receipt of all submissions. We may provide editorial advice or comments and require changes to be made prior to publication. Editors require time to evaluate manuscripts or proposals and will only contact prospective authors if AEI wishes to publish the submission.
AEI encourages all prospective authors to register and create an account. This can be done by going to http://dev.asiaecon.org/index.php/user_data/register
Submissions must meet the following formatting requirements:
- The file submitted must either be in PDF format or a Word 2003 or earlier document (Note that Word documents made using Office 2007 must be saved as Word 2003 format. I.E., with a .DOC extension).
- The length is ordinarily between 1,000 and 3,000 words. However, AEI is flexible in terms of length and does not wish to compromise the integrity or quality of the original works. Originality and creativity in both content and presentation is highly encouraged
- AEI only considers essays that have been written in English or are accompanied by an English translation.
- Footnotes and references must use the Turabian Style. Information on this formatting style is available in Kate Turabian, A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, 6th ed., 1996. Online examples of the style are available at http://www.libs.uga.edu/ref/turabian.html or http://www.library.mun.ca/guides/howto/turabian.php
- Each author should also submit a brief biographical sketch (25-50 words), resume, full list of publications, professional affiliations, and list of grants and fellowships (if possible) along with the manuscript.
Submission can be made by directly uploading the PDF or DOC file in the space below or by e-mail attachment. Please direct email submissions to the Asia Economic Institute to exclusives@asiaecon.org with the subject: "Manuscript Submission."

Editorial Process
All submissions are read by the AEI editorial staff. AEI Editors make their manuscript selections based on the quality of content and insightfulness of the prospective authors. AEI may post selected manuscripts with or without editorial revisions. However, AEI may make comments or suggestions requesting that authors revise the submitted manuscript prior to open review. These decisions may also be based on informal advice from experts in the field.
The revised text will be formatted for the web by AEI Exclusives design editors. Once the manuscript has been posted and is under review only vital corrections or changes may be made. All submission will be subjected to the strict scrutiny and reviews of AEI Subscribers.
